The brutal fact is that if your team is struggling then the fans will be looking for a scapegoat. So far we have struggled to adapt to the higher standard of League 1, and Ryan has made a couple of high profile mistakes (aren’t all keeper errors high profile though?) Add to this the fact that he is the only new player in the defence (Kelly was…[Read more]

I’m scratching my head why (some) fans are rubbishing new goalkeeper Ryan Clarke and scapegoating him for the rash of defensive glitches prevalent in the Dons’ opening matches in L1 this season. Sure, Clarke has made a nervous start to his time in a Dons shirt, but equally so have the experienced defence in front of him. As Neal Ardley said this…[Read more]

After a first league win of the season I should be really happy, but strangely I am feeling frustrated with yesterday’s performance.

Firstly, it was good to finally meet Singapore Don, let’s hope we have a chance to meet and chat at many more games! It was also great to see the ‘lucky’ WDSA flag above the Chemflow terrace. Sadly Liam, I am on…[Read more]

Phew! What a day! Got to KM early to hang the WDSA banner up at the Chemflow End before meeting up with family and friends in the main bar.

Stood in the Chemflow to watch the game. First half was very tight with Chesterfield having more possession but the Dons making a few chances. The battle between Meades and their tricky right winger Writing…[Read more]

WDSA will take credit for ‘inspiring’ AFC Wimbledon’s first win in League One. Liam Nolan sent back these photos from Kingsmeadow with grateful thanks to all those who contributed to the new Wombles Downunder banner…

WDSA very proud to display their banner in support of the mighty @AFCWimbledon with special thanks to Liam Nolan… pic.twitter.c…

Another correct scoreline; two in a row. Alas no money put on this unusual double at the bookies. How interesting; we were all there or thereabouts in our forecasts. 1) A draw or a win. 2) Progress being made. 3) A tight margin in all recent games. 4) Dom Poleon (a champagne, does he know Perignon?) being on the boil. However the Gaffer is usually…[Read more]

Well this is rather wonderful, that Saturday evening post victory glow – it’s been a few months since we’ve experienced this. I’m rather happy with my 2-1 and Poleon to score prediction – spot on! LTB really was a shadow of his former self again today, running into dead ends, throwing himself to the ground in feigned fouls, altogether looking…[Read more]

  • Hope today we will see LTB play as we no he can and put the ball in the back of the net. This team now looks about as strong as it can be so I’m looking for a win today. As for our new player in Chris Roberston a good age and has played in the first div so hopefully he will be a good player for us.COYDSSSSS.

It may be too early to predict our season but that ten game marker is coming up fast. Time then for the nerves to really start kicking in.
It won’t be lost on Chesterfield that we have a good record against them, but nor will it be lost on them that we haven’t performed well at home yet either.
My gut feel is that this will be an edgy nervy game…[Read more]

Likewise Liam, Singapore, I will be in the middle bar or outside (whether permitting from around 14:00). I’m a mid-50s scrawny mess and I’ll be wearing my ‘lucky’ green away top! I’ll also be with a similar aged ‘portly’ guy who is my guest for the day. I’ll keep an eye out for an Aussie carrying a big flag and a guy in a blue and yellow wig!…[Read more]

Here’s hoping for a happy three points Saturday. It’s going to be another tough one, but I’m hoping we can reverse our previous two home score lines of 1-2 in our favour. Poleon to score!

Liamwimbo, take your brolly this afternoon, it’s going to rain during the match! It would be good to say hello before the game, always good to put faces to…[Read more]

Lovely sunny morning here in my part of London. Forecast top of 20C with cloudy conditions, so good for football on my first trip to the Meadow of Kings this season. I was quietly confident of a win last week and we got as close to 3 points as possible. Hopefully two away draws will have built some confidence into the squad. Poleon seems to have…[Read more]

We are setting this game up nicely. Lots of posts on Parrett and Poleon. But to be honest (shame, shame, repent, repent) I had not especially focused on these players before one of them hits in a brace against (by all accounts) a woeful swans U21 team playing in front of six loyals and a dog. Why does this make Poleon such a commodity? Anyway,…[Read more]

Some thoughts on the transfer day deadline (well, two days later) of defender Chris Robertson from Raith Rovers. Robertson not eligible for the Chesterfield game as he awaits an ‘international’ clearance.

NA perspective on signing Chris Robertson – with loans their clubs want them to play. We can't guarantee that, CR willing to fight for place—…

Even in Chesterfield’s championship season in League 2 in 2013-14 the Dons held the Spireites to a 1-1 draw at KM and beat them at home in the previous season. Past meetings show that Wimbledon’s best chance of getting points against Chesterfield is at home, so if the Dons can continue their recent improvement they are a chance of getting…[Read more]

Well that was a non event transfer deadline day for us. Plenty of other League One business was done, but you could argue Neal had already done a decent job with the pre planned signings of earlier in the summer – so no need for last minute panic buying or loaning. He clearly is going to stick by Ryan Clarke, so let’s hope that works, and none of…[Read more]

Deadline day is upon us and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if we did not get our signing over the line. NA was definitely downbeat in his Lyle Taylor contract interview, but I wonder if it was due to a failure to get defensive cover over the line?

I am pretty cynical about Lyle’s signing. He can talk the talk alright, but we all know that the…[Read more]

I attended last night’s match, which had the atmosphere of a PSF. I don’t support the competition, but I felt that after our start to the season the team needed some backing. I was also interested to see how the fringe players performed.

The first thing to mention is that if all Premier League youth teams are going to treat the trophy with…[Read more]

Another two goals from Mr Poleon and £10k prize money into our coffers. A good night’s work from the B squad, and a few selection problems for NA come Saturday. Will Poleon play instead of Taylor? Probably not, and I think it may be the right decision. Now that any uncertainty over his future is out of the way, I’d give Lyle Taylor Baby a couple…[Read more]
