Devon, I didn’t get that impression from the LTB interview. Yes, he may have been hoping for a big move, but it didn’t happen and he seems genuinely happy to have signed a new contract. He clearly gets the club ethos and history and knows he can write himself a place in that history. He’s obviously ambitious and would like to play at a higher…[Read more]

Good to see LTB re-signing, but, one has to question the rather downbeat interview he gave after signing up; clearly he was hoping for something bigger elsewhere. Thus, I somehow just don’t see him being the striker he was last season… at least not until he comes to terms with being served the reality check of being back at Wimbledon for a while…[Read more]

There are three days until the loan window closes. Ardley has said he’s trying to get in another centre back to replace Sweeney. Fair enough. But should we be strengthening elsewhere? Clearly there are big question marks over Ryan Clarke – should we be looking to bring in a keeper on loan? Or stick with Clarke/Shea and perhaps reassess in the…[Read more]

From the highlights it looks as though we were very poor at bringing the ball out of defence. Having gone to 4-5-1, presumably to stop getting overrun in midfield, we needed to pass our way out of defence as we had no long ‘out’ ball. This meant that the 5 in midfield needed to make themselves available when we regained possession, it also meant…[Read more]

Just seen the match highlights. With the exception of the substitutions, I think NA got it just about right. Perhaps he should have played three up front after the sending off, but we were under a lot of pressure prior to this. Maybe his thought process was that reducing the number in midfield would give them the room to outmaneuver us. Perhaps…[Read more]

To answer Mac Womble’s question, the home team keeps 100% of the gate receipt for league games. Cup games are different. There’s some sort of complicated formula where the gate receipts are shared after expenses, bungs, etc.

With five games gone, I am sure we would all rather results had gone better, but it is still early days. So much so that a win next week could lift us out of the bottom four. The crazies on the “other” website are already calling for Ardley’s head, which is ridiculous. Yes, he did seem to make mistakes yesterday, but that happened last season as…[Read more]

Good to see some much needed perspective and informed comment from our editor, far better than the abusive bear pit that WUP turns into when things aren’t going to plan!

Undoubtedly Clarke is under pressure after some game influencing gaffes, yesterday being another which ruined what was a second solid performance on the spin. However, it does…[Read more]

From reading the reports, the only decent thing about the score-line being 1-1 was that MacWomble tipped it. I would have preferred AFC to prove me wrong, but clearly the two teams are just as hopeless as each other, so a bit of a no-brainer. But a point is a point and we are, as advised, awaiting the ten game mark before being concerned. We were…[Read more]

Only five games in and new goalkeeper Ryan Clarke is under the gun as an accident-prone goalkeeper. He has been at fault for a couple of goals so far (as well as the others in defence) and many fans have already taken a set against him. He may find it difficult to cast off that stigma. But will Neal Ardley drop him for the next game? Not if you…[Read more]

    Today, I think, was inexcusable.
NA made a huge gaff with his substitution. Time and time again we have proven that with a 4-3-3 we have the ability to take the game to the opponents. With Rochdale down to ten men we should have killed them off with that formation. NA was even gifted the chance to correct his mistake at that point but still chose…[Read more]

Lyle Taylor is not truly fit…..Discuss!

He may be a hard worker, but there is something troubling about him having to go off around the 70 minute mark in so many games. If it is just cramp, it is preventable. Maybe he needs to be educated to take on more liquids during games?

  • Colum replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 9 years, 8 months ago

The only positive from today’s game is that we got a point. That said, it should have been three. I’ll wait to see the highlights before criticising Clarke, but it does sound like he’s made a howler, made all the worse that it was so late in the game.

Anyway a point is better than none. We maybe bottom, but I still think it is too early to panic.…[Read more]

Listening to the 90 mins of commentary, we threw away that win and two points at Rochdale. Gutting. The manager and keeper must burden much of the blame.

Ardley made a bad mistake in putting on Francomb for an injured Taylor mid way through the second half. Never, never defend a 1-0. Never. Poleon is a fiery in form striker who just scored two…[Read more]

Just arrived in London, but not able to make it up to Rochdale. However I share the general mood of optimism amongst Dons fans for today’s game. Meades and Francomb returning will be a boost, so I am quietly confident of a first win for the season.

Obviously disappointed to hear the latest news about opposition to NPL. Other contributors below…[Read more]

Planning processes are complicated, but all the hoops must be jumped through. If Wandsworth have the legal options to challenge planning decisions, then that’s just a fact we have to live with. However, I truly believe the club have been so incredibly careful and meticulous with their proposal that we stand in good stead to eventually return home.…[Read more]

Dog with a bone, but this will be my final thought: Wandsworth Council say Merton was not and is not an impartial and objective authority to determine our planning application. Yet Wandsworth’s own planning officers – nothing to do with Merton – also approved the plans! It’s not that the decision was taken by a partial local council, but that a…[Read more]

The only ray of hope I can see this evening is that Eric said at the Dons Trust SGM last night (which I attended) that an application can only be called in by a Secretary of State if there is an issue of national, strategic concern to resolve. It’s hard to see how a local council dispute is a national issue, particularly when the local Mayor of…[Read more]
