What a day. 3-1 win against a bogey team we had hitherto failed to beat in the league, and critically another key moment in the history of our club. To have started again in the ninth tier, and now to be above the franchise imposters…well, it’s just incredible. An emotional milestone. It’s moments like this that make this neverending tale of…[Read more]

This won’t get much mention in the media, but today surely has to be THE most historic date in the history of AFC Wimbledon to date. Remember 9th October 2016, as this could well prove to be a quiz question in years to come. “What date did AFC Wimbledon overtake the Franchise in the football league?”
The club will play the significance down, but…[Read more]

What a result!!!! I thought a draw would be a great – and we’re above the unmentionables. It more than makes up for Perth Glory going in 3-0 at the break and only getting a draw. Maybe the optimism shown by NA at the beginning of the season was justified after all.

Very hard to be optimistic against this mob, especially at their place, but recent form suggests the Dons could get a point today. And surely at some point we must get a win against them. A repeat of last week’s defensive display is a must. Elliott and Poleon have been good lately and Taylor seems to be improving from his early season lack of…[Read more]

Hi Peter, I was there but flitting about a lot at KM before going to a local pub before the game.
As Windlesham says, excellent summary of the match. Very sound defensively, good team performance and for me Elliott was MotM for his work at the back as well as up front.
If we discount the first 3 games, the Dons have got 13 points from 8 games. If…[Read more] -

Just watched the John Green interview after the Gills game:
http://www.afcwimbledon.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/making-the-movie-with-john-3345973.aspx
It almost brought me to tears. It wasn’t his signing, although on another day that would have done the trick, it was the realisation that his words about singing “Show the way to Plough Lane”…[Read more]

Did we come of League One age yesterday, or did we luck out on coming up against an out-of-sorts Gillingham? Maybe a bit of both, but I’m going with the former. Yes Gillingham were not the great threat I thought they would be, that their league position and record threatened, and yes they were without some injured players and lost Bradley Dack…[Read more]

This is a funny old game,by all accounts we dominated this game for most of it.Was it just a of day for Gillingham or are we starting to play as iknow we can.Oxford next week will be the real test next week, now if we can get a result i do think we can be looking at the edge of the playoffs so come on Dons show us the way to Plough Lane.

Beaten just once in the last eight games, beating one of the highest scoring teams in L1 and keeping Gillingham scoreless, I think we can fairly say that Wimbledon are not out of their depth in L1, based on early season evidence. Almost one-quarter the way through and the Dons have nine teams below them despite losing points (4) in stoppage time…[Read more]

Two goals to the good and a clean sheet. I’d take that under normal circumstances. But the icing on the cake was hearing the home fans sing, “We going home. We going home. We going. Football’s going home.” to reprise England’s Euro 1996 anthem.

COYD. Let’s kick the Gills backside to the hole they come from. 4-1 to the Dons!

See you there Windlesham – and Liam. I share your gut feelings Wind. I went Coventry thinking we’d get a point; today, like you, I think we’ll come away empty handed. I hope I’m wrong, but they just look too strong for us. I just hope today won’t be our first spanking. We’ve managed to get through every game so far, apart from our opening one at…[Read more]

Liam, Sing, I’ll be there with a Sunderland supporting friend who said he wanted to watch some ‘proper football’. Looking to arrive around 13:30 so I’ll try and seek you out – keep your eyes peeled for me, I’ll be in my (formerly) lucky green striped top.
Sometimes I have a good feeling about a game, but today I don’t! The Gills look a good…[Read more]

Hi Liam. Yes, it would be good to say hello and chew the Dons fat. I’ll try to find d you in the bar at 2ish. It could be a tough afternoon. I still haven’t quite got over the sucker punch of that 94th min Coventry equaliser. Blatant offside not given by worst linesman I’ve ever seen. Grrrrr.

Hi Singapore , hi Windlesham,
Have been off grid while traveling around Cuba, but now back and will be at the Dons tomorrow, hopefully along with fellow WDSA member Dave K. Maybe meet up? Should be in the main bar about 12.30.
Did manage to catch the news about NPL – What a great day for the club. Congratulations to Erik and all involved for…[Read more] -

Ten games… It now seems certain that we will be in the dogfights for relegation.
NA goes for 4-4-2 again and gets it wrong… again.
We go down to an early goal… again.
We get hit by a sucker punch in the dying seconds… again.
While it is good to see LTB waking up, there are still issues, but do you know what?… I think these issues are…[Read more] -

What have you been smoking MacWomble? Jesting aside, I’d hope our team has enough sense not to appoint anyone like Big Sam in any capacity.

Obviously the move back to Plough Lane is a great one and necessary to improve our financial position and at least maintain our League 1 status, but I will miss parking at the ground, the close proximity to the pitch and other supporters standing around me. AFCW probably had the highest win ratio on Kingsmeadow than any other league team in the country.
