From the (limited) look at the match highlights Swindon Town looked a decent passing side and therein lies the challenge for AFC Wimbledon this season. Swindon are 20th and the Dons are 12th – just four points above the Robins. It just shows (yet again) what a tightly-congested league this is and how every game is a challenge. The Dons are…[Read more]

Obviously the timing on my crystal ball is one week out. The dull, boring 0-0 draw I predicted at Oxford turned out to Saturday’s game!
Most people don’t seem too upset by the result. The unbeaten run continues, a clean sheet and still above the scum. So a few positives despite the disappointment of not getting all 3 points.
Just a thought – are…[Read more] -

I’ve been to the last couple Wimbledon Minithons. It is very evident that the organisation has gone up several notches in recent years. What was originally an event for a few adults in a park, now involves the entirety of the teams playing under the AFC Wimbledon name. Boys and girls, it is a wonderful sight seeing several hundred people…[Read more]

After a terrific couple of weeks there was always the chance of an “after the Lord Mayor’s show” performance and we duly got it yesterday. Swindon reminded me of Walsall from the first day of the season – neat and tidy in midfield and happy to pass the ball out from the back. I guess it shows how far we have come since the start of the season…[Read more]

Remember when Neil Ardley warned us pre-season? Remember when he warned us that we’d have to be patient? Remember he said we’d have to soak up pressure, and hit with pressure on the break? This was it.
Swindon are a VERY young and small side, but not without some skill. They came with some injuries, and played for a point. They got it. They…[Read more]

There is a good feeling around the club at the moment and not just because we are higher than the scum.
Hopefully that will translate into 3 points tonight. -

…And so to today and another important match against strugglers Swindon. I remember at the pre-season Meet the Manager evening NA was asked who he thought would struggle this season. The only club he mentioned specifically was Swindon and after a reasonable start they have stuttered in the last month.
We need to beat the teams towards the…[Read more]

Back on the forum after a three match absence (technical issues, not an Onyadon red card!) and three wins have changed the atmosphere around the club.
After both myself and Singapore predicting a trouncing from the Gills, our comfortable 2-0 victory should have been foreseen. In truth we got some good fortune, with playmaker Bradley Dack limping…[Read more]

Thoroughly enjoyed the latest WDSA Newsletter. One of the best editions in my humble opinion.
You know, regarding our team’s performances lately I think we have been a little lucky… and I’m not talking about whether it was a foul or penalty or not (it wasn’t), I’m talking about our goalmouth scrambles, which still frighten the hell out of me.
I…[Read more] -

Phew! What a match. That’s why I don’t like doing predictions. The dull, boring game turned out to be quite a feisty affair with lots of incident and action. Some of the defending was desperate at times, but it was great to see the whole team work so hard, especially Lyle Taylor on the wing sacrificing his usual place up front for the greater…[Read more]

That was a significant victory for the Dons to finally beat Oxford United at the 13th try – that will give their confidence a boost in what is shaping as a promising first season in L1. So far AFCW have beaten Charlton and now Oxford on the road and draws at Northampton, Rochdale and Coventry. By any measure it shows the Dons ARE competitive in…[Read more]
