In a season of remarkable performances yesterday’s was probably the most remarkable yet, even eclipsing the televised demolition of ex-bogeymen Oxford. I’m sure I wasn’t the only fan who had an “oh sh*t!” moment of dread when seeing the starting line up. No Robinson was expected, but no Charles, no Bulman, no Parrett and Poleon not even in the…[Read more]

You get the impression that this lofty height may not be our high water mark and that even better things are in store. An amazing story thus far! And we have always struggled against the Posh. Looking forward, I can’t see Robinson being in charge at MKD for much longer. He seems to have lost his appetite and mojo since relegation last year; cannot…[Read more]

Many thanks Singapore Don for a terrific report from Peterborough, don’t think anything was missed and extremely valuable for us not there.
A couple of thoughts – 15 games in and the Dons stand perched on their highest league place of 6th in L1 since reformation. Rarefied times, maybe it might become our highest point this season, but who can say…[Read more]

Wow!We really are in nosebleed territory now. It is amazing that the worst thing about last night is that we only one by one goal. Some many positives, a clean sheet, new players coming in and doing a good job and the return to form for LTB. He took his time getting going last season and it was only after Christmas that he really looked like our…[Read more]

PS I meant to mention LTB. There were question marks early in the season over his commitment, his fight, his morale. Today put pay to all those simmering doubts: he really got his mojo back. He seems to have accepted without any sulking or despondency now that he’ll be rotated and has to play a squad role. He smiled and laughed throughout the…[Read more]

I’m not sure that in my decades of watching the Dons I’ve seen a more dominant and exquisite display of football as the first 45 minutes at Peterborough. We were quite frankly brilliant. Our control of the game was supreme. It was sheer joy to watch the silky passing, the tough tackling, the killer passes, the high pressing, the outrunning,…[Read more]

Well. Let me blink to see if this is really happening. Up to sixth and yet another away win. Who’d have thought it, and the evil ones losing again. Life is all good at the moment.

I wonder if Neil Ardley’s comments about Mr Meades was an exercise out of the Mourinho book of mind games. There he was saying the poor left back can’t walk or train.…[Read more]

After the heroics at Bury, is it too much to expect another good result at Peterborough? Ardley seems to have the team ticking over nicely and it is a good time to be a Dons fan at the moment. Robbo being suspended is a blow but like others I hope it gives young Will Nightingale a run out. However the effects of a long journey midweek may not help…[Read more]

Setting off soon to get the train to Peterborough, strangely calm about the outcome. The three points at Bury settled a lot of nerves, and allow us to approach this game with a determined and reassured confidence – but if there’s an upset, it won’t be the end of the world. The key clearly is going to be tiredness after the overnight trip back from…[Read more]

A confident Dons’ squad head up to London road to face a talented Posh outfit this afternoon. It is staggering to think that our last away defeat came at this ground on 9th August, over 2.5 months ago!

Robbo is missing due to a one game suspension and I hope NA is confident enough to blood young Will Nightingale alongside Darius Charles. Will…[Read more]

You know…. of all things AFC Wimbledon recently, the news item that I find most heartwarming is the return of Seb Brown to the club.
He is one of the cornerstone reasons why we are where we are today. I hope he finds a great future with the club.

Just looked at the Bury highlights, and two three things spring to mind:

Credit to both teams for getting the ball down and trying to play passing football on a surface better suited to water polo.
The two goals Bury gave away were very reminiscent of the type of defending we suffered from in the past. Lyle Taylor’s goal especially. For him to…[Read more]

Spot on Singapore Don. It was a great result, both at Bury and Bucks. But it was a fairly close run thing. Success is built on small margins. One missed tackle, one miskicked shot, and result could have been very different. Still one point the playoffs, and the unmentionables one point off relegation. Woohoo!

This team is on the up. We are at ease in L1. Who would have thought we would be co close to a play-off position, even before the arrival of Santa. On a different note, it is a bit sad to hear of the terminal decline of greyhound racing in London. They have been around since 1928 and, like our club, have had struggles over the last decade. We…[Read more]

Final thought for this amazing night, albeit someone else’s but well worth highlighting:

This time last year we were 16th in L2 having just been hammered 5-2 by Morecambe. The Frannies were 16th in the Championship.

    Incredible. Happy days.

Wow, just wow. After the flat feeling at the end of the Swindon game – as dull an affair as you could ever dread to see – tonight’s performance and result were utterly exhilarating. I listened to the WDON commentary of the whole game, and we thoroughly deserved the three points. At last we got some just rewards in added time to make up for the…[Read more]

Over the moon with such a great result. Lots to discuss but can I just say that Ardley is doing a great job building a fantastic team spirit in the squad. We will need that in the coming months once the winter weather sets in. There is a link to a very good interview with him on the “other” forum. COYDs!!

There’ll be no nostalgic return to Merstham for those imfamous cheese sandwiches. At least not until the second round if we both get through. They’ve got a difficult task against Oxford, but with home advantage, who knows. For a club like them, home advantage counts for a lot.

For us it is an away trip to Bury twice in a little under three…[Read more]

This from the Racing Post on the Wimbledon Greyhound Stadium, note the dates …

    Racing Post:

THE axe has finally fallen on Wimbledon stadium as staff and trainers were informed in writing on Saturday that the final meeting at the track will take place on Saturday, March 25.

The news comes after any hopes of saving greyhound racing at Plough…[Read more]
