Oops, one glaring omission from my hastily written round up: Tyrone Barnett. He had a cameo appearance for the last ten minutes, and once again got a goal to bolster the Dons position. He still look a bit more leggy and more lethargic in his overall work rate and effort, but I’m now wondering whether that matters quite so much if he’s scoring…[Read more]

Well could we have had a better early Christmas present from the boys in blue? Shaking the match package this morning it was hard to work out what exactly was in store after the highs of Curzon and lows of the unspeakable – today’s offering could have been anything if truth be told. Well, what we got was the perfect gift – a great 4-0…[Read more]

Bad news about young Will. He is such a good prospect so hopefully will recover quickly.

After a hectic schedule, the week off should help the Dons freshen up. The team have proved themselves hard to beat, but really need to start winning league games to ensure we stay in the top half of the table.

So hopefully home advantage will help provide…[Read more]

Neal’s update ahead of tomorrow’s match has not improved my mood. Poor Will Nightingale goes under the knife again. Let’s hope it is only a minor op, but we must start worrying whether Will’s body will ever allow him to realise his undoubted potential.

Darius is still not even training, now 2 months on from a training ground knock. This is…[Read more]

After a couple of stress filled weeks for players, officials and supporters alike, it is back to the relative mudanity of the league on Saturday with the visit of Port Vale.

However, IMO there are warning signs for us at the moment and we would do well to take heed of them: we haven’t played well since Bury in the league in mid-November; after…[Read more]

I think the Gaffer summed it all up nicely in his pre-game quote (in earlier post). Both teams up for a game which is tremendously important to Wombles the World over. Shame about the result. The bloke from Hearts will toughen MK up a bit. We will be seeing a repeat of this game next year, but at least it sets it up nicely for when we host them…[Read more]

Total respect and admiration for those Dons fans going today, but like Singapore and Windlesham, I could not bring myself to attend a match at their place.
I am sure the “go/ don’t go” debate will rumble on for a few years yet. As Singapore points out, there may be a generation gap developing, as my niece and two nephews are going. The youngest…[Read more]

I will also not be attending today, and personally I will only reconsider if they drop the deliberately antagonistic “Dons” from their name. That word, when referring to Winkleman’s club stealers, still has the power to provoke hurt and anger.

Anything could happen today, but I fear the new manager ‘bounce’. We need to start strong and not give…[Read more]

Never forgive, never forget. I shall not be going to the franchise dungeon of theft, my loathing of the scum too visceral to contemplate a visit up the M1 today. Like many I’m sure, I’m still too scarred by what happened in 2002 when our beloved Wimbledon FC was stolen from us. The unspeakables and the football world should always be reminded of…[Read more]

AFC Wimbledon have won already. As we arrive at the day when the REAL Dons play Franchise for the first time in the League, AFC Wimbledon have won already. It’s sweet karma that the Dons stand 7th on the table, MK 19th, in the first season the two disparates have played in the same league — 14 years after starting out as a fans-owned team in tier…[Read more]

Hi Best link I saw of Jake is on the AFC Wimbledon Facebook page with a 3 minute video posted by Stuart Stone on December 6th at 6.06am my time in Adelaide. Sorry that I can’t work out how to post a link.

Very quiet on here – is it the calm before the storm?

Guys, have a request from WDSA member Margaret Hung: she’s asking if the moment in the Curzon Ashton Cup tie when Jake Reeves can be heard telling the team to stand on the keeper before taking the corner (before Elliott’s first goal) is on video anywhere? The Dons Player does not have actual audio in the match highlights. If there is anything out…[Read more]

Now that the excitement of Sunday is beginning to subside, thoughts turn towards the game against the unmentionables on Saturday. For some reason I thought about what team I would put out given a choice of past and present players of the last 40 years, if I wanted a “physical” encounter. So here goes

GK: Schumacher (West Germany). Infamous for…[Read more]

What an incredible game of football. Great to see the never-say-die attitude of the Wimbledon of old, as well as the more practical issue of better fitness proving crucial. As others have said, Reeves did superbly, setting up all four goals. And credit to Ardley for going four up front (but I suppose he had no other option).

    And so onto Sutton,…[Read more]

So it is back to where it all began. Memories of that ten minute walk from home to the ground. Of a car stopping me at a crossroads to ask directions only for Alun Armstrong to stick his head out of the window. Of that crazy wait in the never ending queue to get in. Of the roar as the teams came out. To be honest I don’t remember much about the…[Read more]

…And our reward is a trip to Sutton! It should be a cracking atmosphere and will bring back memories of our first ever match in our current guise. There will be a scramble for tickets though, as I doubt we will get more than 2000 tickets in a ground nominally holding 5000 – I’m willing to bet there will be a few Wombles in the home end!

    With…[Read more]

Good point Rob. I also noticed the complete lack of emotion from Neil Ardley when the winner went in. Also the hug he gave his opposite number at the end. It was a gracious gesture from a manager who realised he’d slipped on a banana skin whilst carrying a pint, but somehow managed to stay upright and not spill a drop.

  • What can i say that has not been said our club is just amazing the never say die attitude reminds me of the old grazy gang.I must say when it was 3-0 i did text my son who was out at a party to not bother to watch it when he got home, then i had to text him again that he must watch it.COYD. Now let us give that thing up the road a good beating.

What an incredible emotional roller-coaster ride that was. I had figuratively put the cue in the rack at 0-3 (think we all did…) and was reflecting on what a lost opportunity the listless Dons had squandered for the FA Cup third round draw, when ….. the turnaround was just a blur, three goals in three minutes and in a twinkling we were level…[Read more]
