  • Windlesham- the new striker is getting announced at the start of the month all I’m saying is gillingham

I was speaking to a Pompey friend yesterday. They also released one of their keepers at the end of the season. This makes yet more competition from yet another club with a larger budget. With other clubs signing keepers already, I hope we aren’t left with the dregs to choose from.

Perhaps not quite as imminent as expected Rob, let’s hope there isn’t an issue wrt the medical. No sign of any new striker either, but as I have mentioned as nauseam my main focus is on the new keeper…

The recent posts about England’s U17s match reports were telling. Why? The players teams were mentioned and most were Premier League, with a scattering of Championship clubs. Joe Bursik was the only League One player. If he is to leave, let’s hope we get a Premier League fee.

Expect an imminent announcement on Joe Bursik’s new club, fee agreed subject to a medical.

  • windlesham- continuing on, just after a couple mins research blackman came out only a couple weeks to 2 months ago saying he would love to rejoin Wycombe, and I got the wage wrong he is apparently on 13k a week at chelsea

  • windlesham- that’s true but Wycombe would have a bigger budget then us id imagine, but then again if blackman wants to play higher and also Chelsea could do us a favour considering they have our ground now, I imagine Chelsea would still pay most of his wages as he is on a rumoured 25k (not too sure per week or per month). would love to see him in…[Read more]

Rumours – Blackman spent last season on loan at Wycombe and they couldn’t have been paying big money for him. He has stated that he wants to play in the Championship or League 1 this season, so we may be in the running.

The problem as I see it is if any bigger fish are in for him…

  • windlesham- only problem with jamal blackman is he is apparently on big money at Chelsea, so without them paying most of the wage we wont be able to afford him, im hearing that the striker could be a target man like smith, or ikpeazu but who knows, also been hearing a rumour of qpr goalkeeper matt ingram but not be a trusted source so who knows…

Sounds interesting, Rob, and the implication must be that we have managed to offload the duffer Barnett to some unsuspecting mugs!

No sign of a keeper as yet, which must be our top priority. As time moves on I guess it becomes more likely that we will be getting a loanee. I still have (perhaps forlorn) hopes of us picking up Jamal Blackman for…[Read more]

Maybe a striker in this week, but apparently not a direct replacement for Tom Elliott… no names, no pack-drill.

  • onyadon replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 8 years, 10 months ago

Left-back Sean Kelly returns to Scotland to sign a two-year deal with Ross County. He becomes the third Don to find a new club after the end of the season, along with Tom Elliott (Millwall) and Dannie Bulman (returning for third stint at Crawley Town).

I think we also need a wide midfielder. At the moment we have Barcham, the permanently injured Whelpdale and the ‘not so wide’ man Francomb.

Two old faces – Kwesi Appiah and Deji Oshilaja – back with the Real Dons. So what are the chances of a third one? Some rumours (unverified) of interest in Ryan Jackson.. that still leaves a target man and goalkeeper to fill. But Neal Ardley has made an encouraging start to the off-season recruitment campaign. He has got his targets, it’ll just be…[Read more]

I thought that Deji showed great potential when he was here last time, but I share Rob’s concerns over the allocation of tight funds to another centre back. We now have Will, Darius, Robbo and Deji all good enough to start, I would have thought we could have run with 3 of those and looked to cover with Bas/Kalambayi/Sibbick if necessary. Perhaps…[Read more]

So Deji Oshilaja it is then. No real surprise, and Neil Ardley certainly looks a happy fella. He’s every right to. The signings so far look positive. After three of last season’s bunch fell flat, they’d bloody well better be!

Both Erik and Andrew Williams, the Stadium Project Manager, seemed confident that the 2019-20 season was still a runner. The plan is tight, but there is the possibility of overlapping tasks down the road if necessary. It is unusual for Erik to be as confident, as he is naturally conservative when looking at timescales, so that was a good sign…[Read more]

Windlesham – What did arouse my interest in your informative post was the mention that the new stadium may still be ready for the opening game of the 2019-20 season. Obviously a bit of water to flow under the bridge, but even with this delay (so far) we’re still talking August 2019.. anything further on that you can add?

  • Windlesham Don replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 8 years, 10 months ago

No problem, Rob. There were also some Powerpoint diagram images of the initial build of the stadium which I am sure would be of interest to WDSA members. Hopefully they will be available for you to link to at some point.

I’d like to see us sign both Oshilaja and James Henry, but agree that our budget may be a constraining factor. IMO we need…[Read more]

Dan, while I would welcome Deji Oshilaja back at KM, I would query the budget (new stadium imposed) implications of carrying four first-choice centre backs for a club of AFC Wimbledon’s size. Unless Ardley sees another role for Deji, perhaps right-back? The club have to be very frugal in who we bring in this summer and we are most fortunate to…[Read more]
