Apologies for my tardiness in posting my summary of the MtM evening and thanks to Singapore Don for his quick summary.
I’ll probably break my summary down into subjects covered by the evening and break them up into a series of posts. Apologies in advance for clogging up the forum!
However, before I start I’d like to give an overall summary of…[Read more]

Many thanks to Singapore for the MtM update. And apologies to Rob for lurking and not posting. Have been on the “other” forum and not liking the negativity on there.
As others have said, losing Elliott was expected, Poleon not an issue, but was disappointed about Reeves leaving. However others coming in has been welcome news.
I feel we have…[Read more]

Singapore I think that was Neal’s master plan all along. Sell some of our better players for large fees to rival League One clubs, and get them to play utter shite. Long may it continue.

The Eastleigh statement on their website hinted at a disagreement about the state of the pitch. Behind all the platitudes, it seems like there may have been a bit of a falling out. Oh to have been a fly on the pitch side wall at that inspection yesterday.

Colum. I am sure the Gaffer will have this on the agenda for the first team meeting (you know, the one with all of the new players who are really Championship players and are commanding such R E S P E C T). It may be that the players have to learn some Portuguese to get the ball back. Where is Eastleigh and why was the game postponed? For some…[Read more]

Reeves and Poleon, along with former Don Charlie Wyke, in Bradford side for first half against Vanarama National League North side Bradford Park Avenue. 0-3 down at half time. All three only played first 45 mins. The City eleven for second half kept it at 0-3. Not a glorious start for our former Dons/glory seekers.

Two months without a game and the first friendly is called off. Thanks Eastleigh!
So my thoughts turned to more weighty matters.
You know that trick freestylers do to juggle the ball and then catch it between their shoulder blades?
If a player were to do that in the opposition’s penalty area, how would they get the ball off him without giving…[Read more]

A confidence boosting Meet the Manager session. Neal was refreshingly honest, articulate, intelligent, passionate – for my money, we’re lucky to have such an inspiring and down to earth manager. Rather than write a full report of the session, here are the notes I made on my iPhone in real time:
Goalkeepers – top 3 choices were loanees
Shea and…[Read more] -

Small South London Club seeks Legend.
Must possess a head as high as Tom Elliot’s, have the dedication of James Shea, the Play-making skills of Jake Reeves, the assuredness of Danny Kedwell, and the presence of Vinnie Jones.
Salary not negotiable but comes with free Bacon Butties, shares in Jelly Babies, 1/11th share in club car (Austin A40),…[Read more] -

Hopefully thats the last of the players leaving and with a bit of money in the bank we may get somebody in. What do you think money on a midfielder or on a striker.

Good news at last in the transfer market, even if it is a departing player. Now if only we could have one newbie to get us excited. Is that asking too much?

Another day and another departure. However, not many tears will be shed for the ‘wage drain’ that was Tyrone Barnett!
C’mon Neal, use the freed up wages to add a class playmaker, even if it is on a season long loan…

Unfortunately we’re feeling the affects of the Sutton United replay now. Such a massive loss that night.
Hope Neal has a plan but when the OS starts mentioning we’re looking at players as trialists as replacements for Reeves it really doesn’t inspire confidence. Any player worth something will be contracted which just leaves youngsters.…[Read more] -

Just re-read my last post and it was too optimistic – I forgot to mention that integral to the current squad of 22 are Will ‘sick note’ Nightingale and Kwesi Appiah, who is returning from almost two years out after snapping virtually every ligament in his knee!

At the moment it is difficult to feel optimistic about our chances for next season. The League will be tougher, with strong teams coming up and down, and with some of last season’s survivors spending big.
Currently our squad could best be described as ‘threadbare’. Twelve contracted players have departed (eight of which could be considered…[Read more]

I have to agree Rob. Throw in the couple of “number one” targets from that Kent team who spent most of last season looking down rather than up. Is that really who we are looking to get? Maybe this is all we can expect with our budget, but it all seems a bit of a sorry saga. Especially when you consider who has been let go. With Poleon I can shrug…[Read more]

Not impressed with the transfer activity so far. Last season was tough but next seems to be getting harder. The loss of our midfield pairing of Reeves and Bulman is a disaster. We must replace Reeves with a similar player. I don’t see anyone currently at the club doing his role and that role is crucial to the team. He’s been our most influential…[Read more]

George who? for goalie… (apparently “things didn’t work out for him at Sheff Utd last season”).
And after the inevitable loss of our best player (not to mention numbers two three and four) we are now “looking at some midfield players” during pre-season… meaning we didn’t get that target either….
Mutter… mumble… mutter… mumble…
Odds…[Read more] -

Oh dear, Dom Poleon sharing a picture of an erstwhile Dons mate in Leeds on Instagram. Looks like it’s bye bye Jake Reeves.

So the odds on us being relegated are lengthening Windlesham 🙂
Where the hell do you guys get this sort of information from? Don’t tell us if it compromises your sources.
Letting Shea may yet prove to be a lost bet, but i’ll still give the benefit of doubt. It was clear he and Neal Ardley didn’t always see eye to eye, and when a keeper…[Read more]
