I can’t imagine that the players on the bench are that much better than those on the pitch. Would they make much of a difference? The magic faeries arrive! We are not going to benefit from losing the Gaffer. I think it would be a mistake. The players need to start using their heaps of training time to actually improve and to learn to play as a…[Read more]

What my more learned (and perhaps less emotionally charged) colleagues on here have pointed out, is precisely my frustration with NA.
We most definitely do have better option than our present lumbering back-peddling midfielders but those options remain firmly planted on the bench. Meanwhile, our forwards having appeared to have (finally) found…[Read more] -

I had my first look at the Dons in the televised game against Posh. Flying start, Lyle Taylor scores in opening 35 seconds, nice leadup from Forrester, but it soon became apparent that Peterborough were a much better footballing side and their goals came as no surprise. Although the first one came off the back of Barry Fuller’s shoulder in off the…[Read more]

Our midfield woes were there for all to see in this televised game. A 2-2 draw may appear like an entertaining game, but it was pretty poor. To be fair to the players, it wasn’t helped by the fussiest of refs.
It all started so well with Lyle doing what he does best. Cody seemed to do OK as well, even breaking his duck with a good finish after…[Read more]

I sympathise with your view Devon, but I can also understand NA’s reasoning. Alfie has talent and pace, but he isn’t as big and strong as Soares, Abdou, or Trotter. He’s arguably also behind young Hartigan in the pecking order. Sure he might get the odd game for us, but if he wants to play first team football, he has to go somewhere else. NA…[Read more]

OK… So one of our best hopes for a revival goes out on loan because “he needs more first team action”….
Unless someone can give me a lucid logical cast iron reason for this apparently insane decision at a time when the club is so utterly desperate for an injection of their pace, desire, and ability in our league matches, I have to declare that…[Read more] -

Onpassing Windlesham Don’s FA Cup observations ..
We are in the hat for the next round, but I can take little more than that out of the game. This was as close as you could get to a joyless FA Cup win – quiet crowd, Lyle not celebrating his goal and a second half where we looked like the minnow clinging on for victory. This is against a team w…[Read more]

I’ll pick up on your point about NA Rob. He didn’t go over to the fans after the game. In fact what was interesting was the post match huddle in the centre circle. Whether he was inside it I don’t know, but it was very noticeable, and most of the players didn’t make a great deal of effort to come towards the fans, In fact one or two them couldn’t…[Read more]

It wasn’t pretty, but it was a win and £18k for the January Desperately Needed Striker Fund. Grateful for small mercies, we did see a goal – though Lyle’s complete absence of celebration reflected the general malaise which is now gripping our club. Windlesham wrote eloquently of the pea souper fog-like gloom enveloping all Dons, and Rob too was…[Read more]

A great relief the Dons are in the hat for Monday’s second round draw of the FA Cup. It wasn’t expected to be pretty and it certainly wasn’t. But the bottom line: Wimbledon are still in the FA Cup after avoiding a first-round banana skin. The mood remains dire among the supporters. Many claimed it was again dross football and there appears a veil…[Read more]

So…. we won! Wow! Now’s there’s a concept to grapple with. Reading the management report though you’d have to say it was not one filled with ‘that’s the way it should be against L2 opposition’ but one more along the lines of ‘Phew! We live another day’.
Who knows though? Was today a “Pride in the Shirt” moment when suddenly we discover that the…[Read more] -

This post from Windlesham Don..
The gloom around the fan base at the moment is like a damp, November, British pea-souper fog – chilling to the bone and with no sign of lifting…
There appears to be little cup fever around this game, and that is a terrible shame as the team and the fans will need to be at their best to overcome a Lincoln side…[Read more] -

Onto Saturday and another must win game in mu opinion, if for no other reason but to restore some confidence in the supporter base. If we lose, it won’t be the end of the world. Lose badly, and I the pressure ratchets up a couple more gears.
Lincoln City are no mugs. Currently ninth in league one, a few places below Luton who beat us on Tuesday.…[Read more]

Reading some of the Facebook comments on the club’s post of yesterday’s game made uncomfortable reading. Not because of what was being said, but because who was saying it. There was nothing new in the content, but when you’ve voices from could be con strewed to be members of the club’s establishment doing a bit of Ardley bashing, you can’t help…[Read more]

Watching the Dons is quite a tough duty at the moment, but I won’t stop going to matches because we are playing poorly. The club has given us some great memories over the years, so I feel that I owe them my support in the difficult times ahead.

Good comments, Rob. Suddenly the “Ardley Out” jokes are no longer funny, and may be becoming a prophecy. What I find frustrating is the predictability of it all. Woke up at HT last night and saw it was 0-0. Went back to sleep almost expecting the final score to be 1-0. The lack of goals has become a huge problem and surely has led to a lack of…[Read more]

Neal Ardley says the players gave everything against Charlton and I have no quibble about that. But yet again the Dons failed to score. That’s 10 times in 16 League games this season and a miserable goal tally of just nine, by the far the worst in L1. I am noticing a growing discontent with ‘Nil’ Ardley, significantly from long-time Dons…[Read more]

I will be travelling to the Valley more in hope than in expectation tomorrow. I’m hoping to meet up with Singapore Don pre-match to put the Womble world to rights!

One spot above the relegation zone would be the perfect end to a disappointing season. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing your views on the latest ‘crunch’ game.

So here’s the bottom line. Six points from three games is what most of us would have settled for coming into the Northampton game. We achieved that. So why do I feel real negativity about Saturday’s performance? Did we deserve to win? Maybe, although that is open to debate. Did they? Definitely not.
Plymouth came to defend and did it well until…[Read more]
