I have a really bad feeling about tonight’s match. The vibe coming from the club management is not good and a couple of times on Saturday players were arguing with each other and with the bench.
Either we will produce a performance out of the blue, like at Scunthorpe last season, or we could take a pasting from an in form Plymouth side.
If we…[Read more]

The Northampton result was the worst performance I’ve seen in a long long time. Sure they were helped by some horrendous decisions by the officials. From the moment that blatant dive won them a penalty, we were doomed. Northampton did what they did best. Time wasting and committing petty foul after petty foul. When LTB was booked for taking a free…[Read more]

Fascinating… Neil Cox reporting that “the players” have been ringing in to voice their opinion on Saturday’s disaster.
Apparently there’s a great spirit between manager and players though…. clearly this is (not) the case methinks? -

I think the Rotherham game was the turning point. We went into it in good form but virtually everybody at the club expected us to lose! That cannot be good for confidence…….. And so we lose to Bury and Northampton and probably Plymouth. You can’t beat a positive mindset and now we seem to have lost it. Survival is still in our hands.

I shuddered when I saw the 1-3 result at home to fellow relegation strugglers Northampton Town. That’s back-to-back defeats (and bad ones) to those teams we have to take points off and not donate to. It’s a bad time to suddenly lose form after the optimism of January. I wrote in the latest Wombles Downunder that it wouldn’t take much for edgy fans…[Read more]

It is puzzling how our run of good form has abruptly ended. Are we seriously heading towards the scenario where the four teams below us have to knock us off our lowly perch to ensure survival, and one being our friends in the South Midlands? It is going to make for a tense end to the season. I still think that Ardley is the right person for the…[Read more]

Shocking performance at Bury. From the players and the manager. The players will disappointed with how they performed but the set up was wrong. 3 at the back with Meades right midfield??? That soon became a flat back 4 with Deji at right back- looking out of position. Then off goes Robbo after a yellow card and on comes Francomb and finally the…[Read more]

So let’s get this straight. A player agrees terms and comes to Kingsmeadow to complete the formalities. Halfway through the medical he asked to bend over whilst a huge rectal thermometer is produced. “Bugger that” said player and went off to the delights that is Southend.
Joking apart, this really beggars belief. If this is the way players can…[Read more]

Things are certainly looking up in the camp at the moment. It is amazing what a few decent results can do for squad morale!
The transfer window is about to close with very little interest from us. NA is hoping to bring another striker in to supplement Pigott, but not a sniff of a rumour of who it might be.
A quick heads up, Rob – my article…[Read more]

What struck me about NA’s post Bradford interview was his revelation that he had asked the team how they might deal with his assessment of how Bradford might play. Sometimes being a manager requires a two-way street. Perhaps NA has matured enough now to realise that?
Certainly the team appear to be on the up, and the performance, with only 45%…[Read more] -

Its a long season and hopefully we have turned the corner, with another forward fighting for a place in the starting line up,players coming back from long injuries we are scoring goals defense playing well. More teams struggling and coming into the relegation zone is good for us,I’m looking forward to this part of the season with optimism onwards…[Read more]

Well the League One table is very pleasant viewing today. Dons up to 19th and the Franchise scum in the relegation places. I used iFollow for only the second time and it worked fine. In the first half virtually nothing happened so 0-0 reflected the game accurately. After the Dons got the breakthrough early in the second half Blackpool exerted some…[Read more]

For me Pigott will be one for the future, but will indeed be used off the bench to give Lyle and Cody a breather.
Personally, I’d have used Forrester behind the front two, with ‘sloth’ Trotter benched, but that is just my opinion.
I am hoping that Carlton Cole proves his fitness and desire so that we can sign him to the end of the season. I…[Read more]

I’m delighted that we’ve signed a forward. Joe Pigott certainly seems to have the credentials, but I was struck by a comment Neal Ardley made in the formal announcement video. He said that at the Scum game, he looked around at who he could bring on who could help the forwards. There was Forrester and Kaja who he described at wingers.
This seems…[Read more]

Colum, Erik’s estimate was for us to make £50k out of the tie, but I understand that this was based on a crowd of 30k. With 50k tickets sold I would hope that the final figure will turn out to be £80k-£100k.
Not brilliant, but better than if we had lost in the first round…

We get £27k prize money for reaching R3. As for gate receipts we should get 45% after the usual expenses are deducted. But with tickets at £10 each that only about £475,270 if they all paid full price. Judging by the number of young fans there on Sunday, I say a good estimate for ticket sales would be £350k. As Wembley is an expensive place to hir…[Read more]

How do FA Cup gate receipts work? With 47,527 fans attending the Spurs game, we must surely have pocketed several hundred thousand?
