The Dons finally sign a player – six weeks after the final game of last season – Mitch Pinnock from non-league Dover Athletic, and lose Darius Charles sideways to Wycombe Wanderers with reports of Jon Meades is heading to Plymouth Argyle. Pinnock says his strong point “is putting crosses into the box”. That was an area the team struggled with last…[Read more]

Worried? No. Anxious? Yes. Maybe all our potential signings are so good, they’re still hopeful of getting an emergency World Cup call up for their country 🙂

Leon Britton? I would love that as a signing just hoping Neal has seen what he has said

It’s a shame if Darius has been offered reduced terms. If so, he will almost definitely go. I would if I were him!
Whilst it’s a shame, the writing could have been on the wall. He could be a very moody character, especially when things didn’t go his way. I remember the L2 promotion season. We didn’t start too well, and I sensed he was…[Read more]

Thanks for the news, Rob, at least something seems to be in the pipeline.
I’m pretty disappointed in the Darius news, though. Unless the club have determined that he has a long term degenerative injury that is likely to recur, then a fit Darius is undoubtedly worth keeping. With a 20% increase in overall budget then offering one of our best…[Read more]

If we were to sign them 4 players that would only leave us with having to get another centre mid and maybe one or two centre backs oh and also a right back

We have made an offer for a young left-winger from non-league. A fee will be involved and another L1 club is interested, but understand the player doesn’t want to go to that non-London club and his agent is comfortable negotiating with the Wimbledon management. If terms are agreeable it could all be done this week. The club also have two strikers…[Read more]

This is indeed terrible news. I had Deano down as our key midfielder for next year. What with the anticipated news on LTB’s future, that might at best leave us with a couple of decent defenders and one perhaps rusty striker… and very little else.
Bring on the youngsters… I doubt we’ll find anything better out there, especially if we can’t even…[Read more] -

Just when we’re all waiting with baited breath for a new signing, we get one. It’s just not what we all wanted. The OS has officially announced that Deano has upped sticks to Gillingham. That can’t be anything more than a better wage packet, as you can’t really see the Gills doing that more better than last season.
I’ve said in the past that…[Read more]

Message for Liam Nolan – Is that a picture of you on the OS “Wombles all over the world” feature in the Grand Canyon?
If so, I didn’t realise that you could pilot a helicopter with one hand while swigging booze out of a plastic cup in the other! ;o)
On second thoughts that fine figure of a man may be too young and slim to be our Liam…
Happy…[Read more]

I can tell you now that Taylor will not be staying from what I’ve heard an unnamed championship club want him I’ve heard Ipswich but that’s when they had a manager so who knows? I’ve also heard that Darius could be off due to personal reasons but the worrying news is about goalkeeper I’ve heard nothing except us going for long back on loan agai…[Read more]

Neal Ardley has made the necessary but difficult calls. Barry Fuller would have been a tough decision: the skipper, five seasons, 223 appearances. But the inconvenient truth is that Baz was struggling at times this season in defence. The gaffer would have had to consider whether Fuller at 35 in August would have held his spot in the first team…[Read more]

To add to Devon’s musings:
– Fuller probably gone to free up some budget. I’m sad to see him go, but we can hopefully find a young, promising and cheaper full back with the same capabilities.
– Slightly surprised about Francomb. He was a good backup option at either full back, but he’s probably also too expensive for that role.
– Poor old…[Read more]

Well, there it is. Robinson going was inevitable, and Fuller, I, (along with many I suspect) predicted he would move on too. (Thank you for a great Captaincy.) Generally those released therefore would seem to be largely anticipated.
Seeing Long go was also inevitable. Boy oh Boy are we going to struggle to replace him! As for the offer of…[Read more] -

Yesterday’s game had a strange feel to it. Maybe we’re just used to nail biting tension of late, but yesterday had none. There wasn’t even a party atmosphere really, just relief that we didn’t have to get anything from the game. Not even the caterers selling “Franchise Burgers – Goes down easily. May contain nuts” seemed to do anything other than…[Read more]
