0-0, 4804 diehards. Ah well, we are still further ahead than at the same point last season, and average attendance is up. We are on the rise, with the new stadium, and better days are ahead. As for Bolton: like us, once in the premiership and shaking-up a few of the bigger clubs. But look at them now. Jeeze. Actually, I’m of a general view that…[Read more]

Exciting times at the moment with the new stadium now looking secure and apparently due for completion late August/early September. The latest picture I saw actually showed earth being deposited on the pitch!

On field, the boys produced a superb display to deservedly beat Gillingham and in the process stop the whingeing of their hateful…[Read more]

Wow – who would have thought that raising huge sums of dosh was that easy. Maybe Wimbledon fans are typical of southeners, being more cashed-up than the northern monkeys? Let’s hope the extra costs of the stadium is not being gobbled up by the corporate suites, boxes and viewing areas. As for the 5-0. Ouch! Still a long way to go Wimbledon. COYD.

What an astonishing response from fans/aficionados/investors to take up OVER 5 million pounds in the Plough Lane Bond in little over a month. With more than 30,000 pounds to be added from the alternative We Are Wimbledon fund for smaller investors the take up more than exceeds the 5 million target to help pave the way for other investments to make…[Read more]

Hi All, been quiet on here recently, so thanks to John and Colum for their recent contributions.
As I write, it is just before our away game at Rotherham. As important as that is, it is even more important to focus on something else, namely the success of the Plough Lane bond. I’m absolutely amazed we are so close to £5m. I chucked in £2K as I a…[Read more]

Sadly, having slept on it, my feelings of annoyance and frustration at yesterday’s result remain. In our position we cannot afford to throw away vital points, but that is exactly what we did yesterday.

I arrived at the ground debating whether I preferred seeing Wordsworth, Sanders and Rudoni in the centre of midfield, or Reilly instead of Rudoni…[Read more]

Peterborough was one of those games. They had LOADS of possession but failed to do much with it. Restricted to long range pot shots, their first real chance came after an hour had elapsed. By comparison we had a few gilt edged chances that their keeper did well to keep out.

It was good to see Mr Toney get his comeuppance. Having spent most of the…[Read more]

A good result against Peterborough, a team I have always measured ourselves against – benchmark team of sorts. Let’s hope the new year continues the change in fortunes on the field for AFC.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for all you guys living in blaze stricken areas – hang in there!!

This afternoon we start the new year with a biggie. Southend have been dreadful this season (as proven by us netting 4 times at their place) but they have started to improve in the last few matches, so I am expecting another tough encounter.

    Our…[Read more]

That was a nice little surprise for Christmas, wasn’t it? Only the Dons’ second win in eight visits to the Mem and only their second away league win of the season at 6th-placed Bristol Rovers.

Wimbledon came from behind to win, Pigott and Forss getting the second-half goals. Great to see…[Read more]

Merry Christmas everyone. A great result yesterday. We are eight points ahead of where we were last season. We have a promising new manager. Our home and away attendance is up. And, given our penchance for relying on one striker to get most of the goals, it seems that even this is being delivered. As for the stadium, I’ll need to read more, but I…[Read more]

Wishing all Wombles down under, up and over, or just in SW19 a peaceful and happy Christmas. Here’s to a fundraising effort to end all fundraising efforts in 2020.

…and hoping any Wombles in the Sydney area aren’t too badly affected by the 40 degree temperatures and bush fires. Climate change? What climate change?

From the latest update on the Seedrs campaign…

“Everybody is committed to building the stadium as described during our crowdfunding campaign, with an initial 9,000 capacity, a showpiece fans’ zone and bar, plus vital income-generating facilities such as executive boxes, along with banqueting and conference suites. In fact, recent photographs o…[Read more]

Maybe I should miss a few more games. I was going to go. My wife even dropped me by the bus stop on her way out. It was then that I realised I’d left my oyster card at home. I could easily have walked back and got it and still made it to KM in plenty of time, but I just thought “sod it” and went home. Such is the air of depression I feel around…[Read more]

Well, an amazing afternoon at KM yesterday!

It started when the team was posted on Twitter – no Wagstaff, no Kalambayi, no Roscrow and Delaney warming the bench?! It was only when Glyn announced the team in the carvery did we get an idea that McLoughlin may be filling in at right wingback…

The outlook was gloomy in the bar pre-match, but not…[Read more]

After a couple of horrendous weeks discussing whether we have a future it will be good to get back to football for a couple of hours!

With such a limited and injury-hit squad, Glyn and the boys have done well to get out of the relegation zone. I’m not kidding myself that this is due to outstanding play, more due to the ineptitude of the teams…[Read more]

Am increasingly thinking that obtaining substantial external investment is the only way out of the current situation.
The club has been losing money for years, and excluding exceptional items I can’t remember AFC recording a financial surplus since we were promoted to the Football League.
As a consequence the Club has admitted that it had to u…[Read more]

Something has been bothering me since Monday, but it is only now that I’ve had the time to think about what it is. The DTB has approached AT LEAST three investors. It would be churlish to think that the first three that were approached all said “Yes”. If that is the case, who else was approached, what reasoning was used to do so, and why did they say “No”?

  • Devon Womble replied to the topic The Lounge in the forum WDSA Forum 6 years, 4 months ago

    Well said Windlesham.
From your words it is my confident belief that these three ‘investors’ are indeed asset strippers who have identified the club as a soft target.
If we are to prevent them taking over the club the first thing we have to do is REMOVE the current DTB. This, simply because they may well have been ‘persuaded’ to support whatever…[Read more]
