We need a positive result at Rochdale to offset this depressing news that (Tory)Wandsworth Council is appealing to the (Tory) Secretary of State to call in our NPL stadium plan. They say Merton Council has been biased, and it needs an impartial authority to determine the application. What the hell?!! The supposedly neutral Mayor of London has…[Read more]

I’m with you Windlesham Don. I have a sneaky suspicion that we can do a number on Rochdale. It could be close, but a win is a win. It would certainly do our confidence, and our nerves, the world of good.
Our problems (albeit minor ones I feel) are that most of the summer intake, whilst showing promise, are not match fit. That is coming slowly…[Read more]

I’m feeling curiously optimistic about tomorrow. The point and display at Northampton, the news on NPL, the return to fitness of Meades and Francomb and the final arrival of summer – all give positive feelings (with of course the normal background nagging dread that it will end in a 3-0 defeat!)
My concerns at the moment are twofold: firstly…[Read more]

The Dons head north on Saturday for a visit to Spotland and Rochdale AFC. Neal Ardley’s men can be optimistic of a result following on from last weekend’s first point of the season and their good record at Spotland — two wins from two trips. The Dale have had a modest start to the season like Wimbledon 1D 3L including two losses at home. I’m keen…[Read more]

Sadly with regard to Kelle Roos I strongly suspect that Rovers’ new Arab owner has allowed them to splash the cash to get him in. Since their change of ownership Rovers are probably another team with whom we cannot compete. I always suspected that Kelle would turn up at a small Championship or large League 1 club, but his salary was always out…[Read more]

Equally gutted about Roos, but it is clear his presence last season was the kick up the a*** that Shea needed. If Shea is shouting the odds in a U23 game, I am quite certain he will be able to do so in a League One game. He is young, quick (much quicker than Clarke), and clearly back on his game… so don’t wait until the 45th game to bring him…[Read more]

Feeling very disappointed that Kelle Roos has signed for Bristol Rovers for the season. He’ll make them much stronger. It does make you wonder whether the wages issue was a red herring in his not being an option for us, or whether Rovers are splashing out to pay for this loan deal. Irrespective, it would have been great to see him back between…[Read more]

By Pollen I mean of course Poleon! Dominic Poleon, a name I’m sure we’ll hear time and again mentioned in despatches this season.

Just back from the U23s game against Wigan. Wow! We really do have some talent waiting in the first team wings. Pollen was the stand out player, with two excellent solo goals and two assists. His control, quick turns and breathtaking acceleration gave us a real threat up front, and he really does look a much better threat and striking prospect…[Read more]

It would be great to see a whole bunch of you guys over for the first match at NPL. It will take a bit of organising though, as knowing our construction industry the completion and opening date will probably be set in blancmange!!
Hopefully the completion date will be in the summer, with a few PSFs to iron out issues before a first competitive…[Read more]

Martin – we have been talking about a group of Aussie-NZ based WDSA members aiming to be at the first game at Plough Lane. It was first raised when Merton Council approved the plan back in March only for Boris Johnson to scuttle it. Once the application is finally passed by Merton hopefully sometime in September then I think we can step up our…[Read more]

Exciting times, Singapore, and especially so for someone who lives so close to the ground. I trust you will post some pics as the stadium takes shape! ;o)
We recently moved into a new apartment and one of the pre-requisites when selecting our new home was access to a train station, as driving to NPL would be a long haul for me.
I can’t wait for…[Read more]

As long as Wandsworth Council or the relevant Secretary of State don’t throw a spanner in the works with another call-in or judicial review move, then September 15th could be our clear cut day for celebration on the stadium plan. Merton Council’s Planning Committee meets that day, and a council spokeswoman has told media here: “It will be a…[Read more]

Just heard the news. Very happy, but still a bit annoying that had to jump through so many hoops. Well done Erik!
