Hi guys, just to make my particular view clear, I am not advocating the sacking of Ardley. However, in recent months I have moved from a firm supporter of his to someone who is not really fussed any more.

If Paul Hurst were to be sacked at Ipswich then I would jump at the chance of recruiting him, but other than that I am not sure whether there…[Read more]

Hi John, thanks for the intelligent and reasoned response. We would all agree that preserving our league status is of paramount importance. If that means sacking Ardley, then so be it.

I wouldn’t compare the leagues of 25 years ago to today. Football is a very different beast.

I unsubscribed from the various online forums a couple of weeks ago. This is the only one I now frequent. This was brought about by the totally unpleasant atmosphere and downright abuse on just about every post. It’s not helpful to anyone, including the…[Read more]

Interesting thoughts, Liam, and ones I agree with to a certain extent. However, there are other factors to consider here – if sticking with Ardley will take us down, but swapping managers would keep us up then should we stick with Ardley? Also, there is no guarantee that if we were relegated this season then we wouldn’t plummet straight into the…[Read more]

I’ve given a lot of thought to Wimbledon’s current situation over the last 24 hours, both before and after yesterday’s defeat at Plymouth. Too much time on my hands as a result of jetlag on the way back to Oz! Obviously I am disappointed at our current form and I began to wonder whether it is time for Neil Ardley to be replaced. But then I thought…[Read more]

Agreed Windlesham. It’s a point I’ve made in posts elsewhere. We are really missing Darius Charles’s steadying hand and leadership in our young defence, and the older heads in midfield are so uninspiring in every way that thee is no leadership there. And no blood and guts motivational play up front either. The team is bereft of a real leade…[Read more]

I’ve been trying to put my finger on why I am feeling more worried about this season than I was during the last two. I have come to the conclusion that what concerns me most is the lack of leadership in this season’s squad.

Gone are the leaders of last season, the big personalities, such as Fuller, Charles and Taylor. I will never forget Lyle’s…[Read more]

I wrote my article for the current newsletter just after the Scunthorpe game. Basically it said we started the season well but things were going pear-shaped by the time of that game. That now seems like a massive understatement. In particular, I was concerned about the forward line, not that we don’t have problems elsewhere. Hanson and Appiah are…[Read more]

I agree with a lot of what others have said, but our problems aren’t just in midfield. There are big problems right through the spine of the team.

Clearly the arrival of Tom King hasn’t worked. McDonnell has done really well so far, but it was clear that wasn’t the original plan.

In defence Oshilaja has been mistake prone, but he’s the captain…[Read more]

There hasn’t been this sort of outpouring on WDSA for quite some time. Since I didn’t get to see the Bradford game on i(dont)follow, I thought I’d find the courage to watch the ‘Highlights’… (wow was there ever such a breach of the trade descriptions act!)
For me, it really is down to NA now, no ifs or buts. He started the season with what…[Read more]

As soon as I saw the result I knew there was going to be big trouble for Neal Ardley. Sure enough, reading the various Twitter and forums there was an outpouring of disgust over the form of the team, culminating in the loss to the struggling Bantams at home. What took me was the views of people who normally would be supportive of NA, not now. To…[Read more]

Eloquently put, as ever, Pete. Agree with all of it.

We desperately need pace in the heart of midfield, but that will not be provided by Hartigan or Wordsworth (why on earth did we recruit him!?) Wagstaff possibly.

I worry about drafting Hartigan into this side without a ‘ratter’ working alongside him, and without any movement off the ball -…[Read more]

In the cold light of today’s bleakish Wednesday post-Bradford morn, pre and early season seems now to have been nothing more than a blink of the eye blip of buzz and excitement, which has well and truly given way to our usual state of frustration, disappointment and dejection. Watching Wimbledon in August really was fun. It was so odd but…[Read more]

    (continued from previous post)

Three in central midfield would also disrupt NA’s desire to have two strikers unless we go 3-5-2 and to do this we would need wing backs instead of full backs. Watson may be able to cope, but Purrington or Garrett would be a liability.

Up top Appiah looks lost and although the Pig battles gamely opposition know…[Read more]

In my opinion an accurate summation of the desperate performance last night. I would add that in my view Bradford were the worst side I have seen in League 1, which only proves how dire we were.

In the summer a poster made an astute comment that our main problem wasn’t related to recruitment for this season, but related to the personnel we still…[Read more]

Last night we witnessed a woeful performance that perfectly highlights why we’ll be in yet another relegation battle this season. It wasn’t as woeful as the Oxford game, but that would take some beating.

To be fair, we took the game to Bradford. The trouble was we didn’t threaten them anywhere near enough. Yes we had one cleared off the line, and…[Read more]

Well that says a lot about our performance!
I have to wonder when watching our lot get completely clueless (usually after some complex theories from NA) if they aren’t just being overloaded with too much clipboard tactics.
Sure, there are the basics but, we’re not in the premier league, we just play football (or attempt to). Sometimes those…[Read more]

Well that was a relegation battle if ever there was one. Just thank Christ it wasn’t in April! We were pretty bad, but Oxford were worse. Talking to some Oxford fans before the game, they said their problem was lots of endeavour with little end product. Sound familiar?

Well this was the day when the roles were reversed. Thanks to a stunning early…[Read more]

Last time I was Accrington it was one of the best football moments of all time.
