Early days, but the last-minute 3-2 win over Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup has considerably lifted spirits in and around the club. The Dons are into the 4th round for the first time in their AFC Wimbledon guise and several notable things have happened in the Wally Downes/Glyn Hodges managerial takeover. There are more opportunities for the…[Read more]

When I posted pre-Wycombe that I felt we needed two wins from the next three games I had no confidence that we would achieve that goal. Having achieved it with still a game to go is amazing to me!

Boxing Day was a very good performance, certainly the lethargy of the last days of Ardley have been swept away by the new management team, who seem to…[Read more]

Hi Colum, thanks for the mention. We are looking forward to games for the first time in ages. Would obviously love us to win tonight but a point wouldn’t be the end of the world. Hope you had a good Christmas and best wishes for 2019. COYDs

Liam is spot on. Not playing the likes of Trotter and Soares is paying off. I have to say young Hartigan is a joy to watch. He’s an unassuming player, who doesn’t really get the credit he deserves. He does the simple stuff well, but it’s his vision that really makes him stand out. I hope he continues to get a run in the team.

    Up front Appiah and…[Read more]

After all the doom and gloom of recent months and the debate over Ardley In/Out, we finally have something to cheer about. Two wins in a row have lifted us off the bottom of the table. No doubt it will be a tough task to keep this going but we now have hope of staying up going into the second half of the season. The big change on the playing…[Read more]

Well that was a pleasant surprise! The team finally seemed to show the fight and determination that has been missing for most of the season. We also looked dangerous in attack, with Hanson and Appiah complementing each other.

One swallow does not make a summer, of course, and defensively we still allow too many crosses into our box and lose too…[Read more]

Today is the first of three absolutely vital matches over Christmas. In my opinion it is not an exaggeration to state that these matches could define our season.

Anything less than 4 points and I believe that we will be doomed to relegation. Realistically, we probably need two wins.

To date, sadly, the squad has shown us nothing to allow us to…[Read more]

I can understand the frustration to those fans who went to Charlton, but I can also understand Wally’s tactics. I may not agree with them though.

He knows he’s in a desperate situation, therefore it is safety first. “Don’t get beat” is his mantra, and the rest can follow. He needs every point he can get, and being unadventurous will do if we…[Read more]

Sadly I have to agree, Singapore. No new manager bounce for us, just the normal gutless and spineless performance. Wally doesn’t seem to be showing the same passion as a manager that characterised his playing days.

This team is a bunch of zombies, shuffling towards League 2. It needs massive changes in personnel to turn things around, more…[Read more]

Saturday felt like the nadir of our existence as AFC Wimbledon. The team was as atrocious as the weather. No fight, no spirit, gutless, clueless – it was embarrassing, our 11 men being completely outplayed and out-thought by their 10 for half an hour. This was as bad, if not worse, than anything we saw under Neal Ardley.

The hoped for, if not…[Read more]

Felt it was like the tipping point on Saturday. In atrocious conditions, AFC couldn’t take advantage of Charlton being a player short inside the first minute and then put ten behind the ball. The only ray of right came when Tyler Burey appeared and took on players with a fearless approach that has been completely foreign this season. The…[Read more]

Think we can take it as read Wally will be doing some shopping in the transfer window and expect a substantial team overhaul with many, if not all, the loan players being returned to their parent clubs. Maybe the club might also try to offload Deji Oshilaja to raise some much needed cash for recruitment. The 0-2 defeat at Charlton more or less…[Read more]

So it appears from last night’s Meet the Manager session that Wally and Glyn can ‘talk the talk’. They appear to be singing off the same hymn sheet as many of us with their initial ideas.

The defence needs to be drilled on the training ground so that we stop giving away stupid goals – we need a few clean sheets.

We need to start picking up…[Read more]

    Observations from the Rochdale game…

The jury is still out on Wally’s appointment. His “joke” tweet certainly hasn’t helped him cement a base to gain the trust of the fan base. Perhaps only results will do that. If we’re still in Division One next season, he’ll have done what he’s been asked to do.

The squad is bereft of depth. With Pigott…[Read more]

The appointment of WD seems only to have deepened divisions in the fan base. The atmosphere around the club is really unpleasant at the moment. There’s a minority wholeheartedly behind him and a minority thoroughly opposed, with I think a vast majority on the fence waiting to see. The rather muted reception he received at KM yesterday not the r…[Read more]

    Today is a big day.

Losing won’t relegate us, but a performance devoid of energy, desire and passion (like so many this season) would signal the beginning of the end.

We need to see a plan. Wally has hinted at a more direct approach and this seems sensible, but only if the midfield has the energy to support the front man/men.

    We also need to…[Read more]

Devon. If Bassey and Wally butt heads, there will only be one winner 🙂

So… Wally Downes hasn’t even picked up a ball yet and he’s already been chastised for his use of Social Media.
Jeez… another Donald Trump… that’s all we need.
Apparently though, he does have a plan to turn our fortunes around…. this’ll hopefully be the ‘Plan B’ that NA never seemed to have. Unfortunately, playing the fishmongers in the…[Read more]

A risky roll of the dice by the AFC Board but I think they have got it right. The mindset will change overnight and I’d say there may be a few players on their last days or games for the club, especially non-performing loanees. It will be very interesting to see what type of game Wally and Hodge will take on to the pitch. Not to mention the…[Read more]

Bloody hell. I should have kept quiet! Only the date/time to be rearranged now 🙁
Still at least we’ll have Wally and Glynn up to speed by then, and hopefully some new signings.
